Key point 01--

Create a Fair and Efficient Medical Marijuana Business Licensing System

The MICIA is the leading voice for Michigan’s legal cannabis businesses. The MICIA advocates for responsible and successful medical and adult use cannabis industry by promoting sensible laws and regulations and industry best practices among members.

Key point 02--

Ensure Safe Access to Cannabis for All Medical Marijuana Patients and Adult Use Consumers

The MICIA will work with state policymakers and association members to ensure the MMFLA is implemented in a way that adequately serves patients across the state and provides them with safe access to the medicine they need. This includes addressing product shortages as the MMFLA is fully implemented and also working with state regulators to avoid similar situations when adult use cannabis businesses become licensed.

Key point 03--

Develop Fair and Equitable Rules and Regulations for Adult Use Marijuana Businesses

The passage of Proposal 1 in 2018 to legalize cannabis for all Michigan adults 21 and older will require the state to promulgate rules for the licensing and regulation of these new businesses. The MICIA will work with state policymakers to ensure the application process is fair to all applicants and that the regulations protect both businesses and the public.

Key point 04--

Encourage Social Equity and Social Justice

The prohibition of cannabis has disproportionately harmed minorities. The MICIA will work to ensure that business opportunities are available to the communities that have been most harmed by the misguided policies of prohibition. In addition, the MICIA will advocate for laws that give nonviolent offenders new opportunities that have otherwise been denied to them due to a cannabis arrest.
